Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo is the world's largest wholesale fish & seafood market that comes to life in the middle of the night with the arrival of 450 species of fresh and frozen fish. Auctions of Tuna weighing around 75kg begin a few hours later at 5AM with franic bell-ringing and shouting.
Ordered chaos moves fish to small shops within the market on motorised or hand carts where they are prepared for sale, an elaborate affair for Tuna. Overall, more than 700,000 metric tons of seafood are handled every year by Tokyo's fish markets with a total value exceeding 600 billion yen (~6.2 billion USD).
